Selective Flocculation of Banded Hematite Quartzite (BHQ) Ores
The recovery of fine hematite particles from banded hematite quartzite (BHQ) ore with potato starch has been investigated using selective flocculation. Microscopic features, coupled with x-ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier transforms infrared (FTIR) spectroscopic data provide evidences for adsorption of starch molecules on hematite surface. The starch molecules show good selectivity for hemati...
متن کاملMagnetite to Maghemite Transformation in Ultrafine Particles
The conversion of magnetite to maghemite has been studied kinetically in the ultrafine particle range (77-220A) by chemical analysis. X-ray diffraction, and Mossbauer measurements. The reaction is third order. The activation temperatures are relatively low (8 250-1 1 200 K). Electron hopping in ultrafine magnetite powders is discussed on the basis of the results.
متن کاملSelective Flocculation for Coal De Mineralization
Selective flocculation has long been suggested as a method for the treatment of ultra-fine particles typical of which are those produced in a de-sliming process ahead of flotation. In this paper the results of the coal de-mineralization, using synthetic polyacrylamide polymers, are presented. A prescreening test on the suitability of the polymers using Run-Of-Mine (R.O.M.) coal and artificial m...
متن کاملSolvent extraction of arsenic(V) with dispersed ultrafine magnetite particles.
The solvent extraction of arsenic(V) was investigated using heptane containing ultrafine magnetite particles and hydrophobic ammonium salt. Arsenic(V) was favorably extracted from aqueous solutions of pH ranging over 2-7, where the distribution ratio (10(3)) was independent of the pH. Although the addition of alkyl ammonium salt improved the phase separation, no notable influence was observed o...
متن کاملA discussion of magnetic separation techniques for concentrating ilmenite and chromite ores
Figure 1 depicts the basic magnetic separation technologies now available in the marketplace in terms of field intensities and modes of processing. LIMS and scalper magnets are not detailed in this paper. The selection of magnetic separation technology depends on many processing factors, including particle size, and the specific assemblage of minerals and grades as well as their corresponding m...
